Biometric Research Studies Sponsored by the Department of Homeland Security: Research Assistant

We are looking for a bright and motivated candidate to work as a research assistant beginning in 2024. Martin Research and Consulting LLC (MRAC) is a research and consulting company that conducts human subject testing for government agencies and pharmaceutical companies, in cooperation with industries and universities nationwide.

We are seeking a research assistant for a high-profile project on biometric identification and screening for the Department of Homeland Security. The research assistant will be primarily responsible for screening, scheduling, and running participants for this project. Most of this work can be accomplished from the candidate’s current location. However, during testing the candidate would be required to travel to Upper Marlboro, MD to assist with running the study at our laboratory, The Maryland Test Facility (MdTF), or at other testing locations across the United States. Currently, we plan to run a study in May 2024 at the MdTF. All expenses for airfare, hotel, and meals will be covered by MRAC. We currently anticipate the candidate becoming trained and beginning to work in April 2024, but a later start time could be arranged based on a candidate’s scheduling needs and strength of application.

The successful candidate will have excellent people skills and a demonstrated ability to work with a range of personalities. The candidate will also have good organizational, multi-tasking, and problem-solving skills, especially under pressure.

A background in psychology or other behavioral sciences and prior research experience is desired, although not necessary. Another desirable skill is familiarity with social media advertising.

Minimal requirements are U.S. citizens with at least one year of college. Ongoing either part-time or full-time hours are negotiable based on the needs of MRAC and the candidate, but it is required that the candidate be available full-time and at the testing site when testing is conducted at the MdTF or other locations. Based on the current testing schedule, it is desirable that the applicant be available to be on site at the MdTF for two weeks in May 2024, but other arrangements could be reached based on an applicant’s prior commitments. Wages will be based on a candidate’s experience and strength of application with a minimum starting rate of $25/hour.

Interested individuals should send a cover letter outlining qualifications and a resume to dmartin@mracllc.com.
