We produce exceptional, innovative research to advance knowledge about the mind, brain and behavior, with the goal of understanding and improving the human condition.

The department's nearly 50 tenure-stream faculty and 140 graduate students use cutting-edge technologies to offer new insights across nine specialties, including behavioral neuroscience, clinical psychology, cognitive psychology, cognitive neuroscience, decision psychology, developmental psychology, intellectual development and disabilities, quantitative psychology and social psychology. Within the past year alone, our researchers have utilized more than $5.4 million in grant funding from organizations including the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation and the United States Department of Defense, among others.

Throughout our scholarship, we prioritize strong theory and methods as well as the application of foundational psychological principles to novel research questions and problems. The department recognizes and encourages the outstanding work that emerges through partnerships across fields, and it builds on tradition to break new ground.
