Conversations surrounding mental health and suicide are tough. It can feel awkward, uncomfortable, and scary, and sometime we don't know where to start. Maybe we're worried our friend will be offended. Or worse, we worry we'll put ideas in their head. Perhaps we just cant imagine what they're going through and don't know how to comfort them. During this training you'll learn: Appropriate terminology for discussing mental health How to de-stigmatize mental health struggles Effective communication skills for asking others if they need help Self-compassion exercises for helpers Suicide risk assessment, warning signs of mental health crises, and safety planning How/when to get appropriate community resources, mental health professionals, and authorities involved Register Today! About the presenter: Allie is a mental health counselor who provides individual counseling, group therapy, community trainings, and gender affirming medical care to adults in Ohio. She earned her BA in Psychology here at Ohio State and her MA in Mental Health Counseling at Boston College.
