PEP Presents: Cognitive Neuroscience: Attention, Memory and Perception through Research

Side Profile being erased by an eraser
Mon, October 25, 2021
4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Psychology Building Room 35

Presented by: Dr. Julie Golomb

How do our brains make sense of the world around us? The human brain is fascinatingly complex. In a fraction of a second, our brains can integrate basic sensory input (for example, points of light hitting different places on our eyes) to construct incredibly rich perceptual experiences. How?? Why do we perceive what we perceive? Why do we make certain kinds of errors? How do the contents of attention and memory influence perception? And what happens when we get distracted? In this talk, Dr. Julie Golomb will describe how her lab uses cognitive neuroscience techniques to explore the many interactions between visual attention, memory, and perception.
