BREAD
BREAD is a non-profit coalition of nearly 40 congregations in Franklin County. The organization brings thousands of community residents together each year to press for solutions to serious community problems. We have volunteer positions and internships available. The volunteer positions can range from serving once at an event to serving once a week helping with office tasks. Internships involve more responsibilities and generally involve 48 - 96 hours during a semester depending on the intern's availability and coursework needs. Interns tend to work on special projects (such as interviewing community residents or developing a video that the organization can utilize), office tasks, and shadowing one of the organizing staff. Entry-level positions are available across the country.

City Year
Serve a year and make a difference in the lives of others and you. City Year helps students and schools succeed. Fueled by national service, City Year partners with public schools in 29 urban, high-need communities across the U.S. and through international affiliates in the U.K. and South Africa. Diverse teams of City Year AmeriCorps members provide research-based student, classroom, and school-wide support to help students stay in school and on track to graduate from high school, ready for college and career success. A 2015 study shows that schools that partner with City Year were up to two-to-three times more likely to improve on math and English assessments.

Columbus Metropolitan Libraries
Open to all since 1873, Columbus Metropolitan Library is well known for its signature services and programs like Homework Help, Reading Buddies, Summer Reading Challenge, and Ready for Kindergarten. With its Main Library and 22 branches, CML responds to areas of urgent community need: Kids unprepared for kindergarten, third grade reading proficiency, high school graduation, college and career readiness and employment resources. Opportunities involve working with students in our Homework Help and Reading Buddies program. Both programs provide experience in working with young students of all socio-economic backgrounds and ability levels.

Haugland Companies
Haugland Learning Center has provided autism services to individuals and families since 2004. We currently serve the educational and behavioral needs of over 350 children and young adults with Autism, Asperger syndrome, and other developmental disabilities in the state of Ohio. We currently operate classroom-based programs in Columbus/Dublin, Lancaster, Athens, and Sandusky, Ohio. We also operate home-based programs throughout the state. Haugland accepts students from preschool through twelfth grade (including those with behaviors of concern) and is therefore an excellent alternative to public school. Additionally, we offer a range of other services, including speech therapy, home respite, ABA behavioral consulting, mental health services, and more.

Nationwide Children's Hospital - Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders
The Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders at Nationwide Children’s Hospital provide comprehensive, multidisciplinary care focusing on evidence based treatment, education, research and advocacy for children with the diagnosis of an ASD. Our mission is to assist to every child and family affected by ASD who is in need. We are currently seeking positive, energetic, and goal-oriented people to work as Behavioral Intervention Aides. The BI Aide implements behavioral intervention for children diagnosed with autism. New BI Aides are trained to become Registered Behavior Technicians. The BI Aides are integral to the services provided by the Nationwide Children's Hospital Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders.

Ohio At Home Healthcare Agency
Ohio At Home is a home healthcare agency that employs primarily Ohio State students and provides direct care services to individuals with developmental disabilities in central Ohio. Our agency supports clients ranging from children with autism to adults with paraplegia/quadriplegia. Ohio At Home is currently looking to hire new in-home health aides from OSU's pre-health and psychology programs, as this line of work most directly relates to their studies and can serve as a great opportunity to gain hours of patient care experience and develop a network of colleagues and professional references.

Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction - Behavioral Health Services
The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction's (ODRC) protects and supports Ohioans by ensuring that adult felony offenders are effectively supervised in environments that are safe, humane, and appropriately secure. Our mission is to reduce recidivism. In partnership with communities, ODRC promotes citizen safety and victim reparation. The department seeks to instill in offenders a sense of responsibility and the capacity to become law-abiding members of society through rehabilitative and restorative programming. OSU LiFEsports Initiative
LiFEsports is grounded in sport-based youth development, which is a continuously growing and expanding field within a variety of social science disciplines such as psychology, social work, and sociology. Within LiFEsports, there are numerous opportunities for students who are interested in working with youth athletes and teams helping to develop strengths-based sport curriculum and training techniques, and who may be interested in a wide variety of research opportunities.

Pathfinder Progress
Pathfinder provides behavior analytic services to individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder and related disorders in the central Ohio area. We are excited about the growth we are experiencing and are looking for qualified individuals to be a part of our team. We are hiring immediately for the Behavior Technician role. In this role, you work 1:1 with children with autism providing behavioral treatment while also gaining valuable paid clinical experience in a variety of settings. Reach Educational Services
Reach Educational and Therapy Services offers educational, behavioral, and related therapy services to children with Autism throughout Central Ohio. Applied Behavior Analytic (ABA) services are available for students ranging from 2 through 22 years of age at Reach's private clinic, located in Columbus. Additionally, we offer in-home ABA Therapy services throughout Central Ohio. Reach specializes is working with learners who have Autism and associated behavior and learning differences.

Our lines of service include research-based, comprehensive reentry and family support programs, behavioral health and substance abuse treatment services, recovery housing for women and their children, and services to individuals with developmental disabilities who are trying to live more independently. Our mission is to innovate and deliver evidence-based human service programs that empower the clients we serve. Alvis serves nearly 8,000 men, women, young adults and children in Ohio each year; we work to keep families together and make communities safer.

Girls on the Run of Central Ohio
Girls on the Run of Central Ohio is a transformational physical activity-based positive youth development program for girls in 3rd-8th grade. We teach life skills through dynamic interactive lessons and running games. The program culminates with the girls being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5k running event. The goal of the program is to unleash confidence through accomplishment while establishing a lifetime appreciation of health and fitness. The 20-lesson Girls on the Run curriculum combines training for a 5K (3.1 miles) running event with lessons that inspire girls to become independent thinkers, enhance their problem-solving skills, and make healthy decisions.

Nisonger Center - Social Programs
Nisonger Center’s Social Programs department provides education, transition, and adult life services for adolescents and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities as well as their caregivers. Four programs: Ace!, Aspirations, Friendship Connections, and Next Chapter Book Club can provide students the opportunity to work with teens and adults with developmental disabilities alongside peers from the College of Social Work and licensed social workers. A variety of our activities occur around Columbus and right here on the OSU campus.
 

North Central Mental Health Services - Suicide Prevention Services
Suicide Prevention Services operates 24-hour crisis intervention hotlines staffed by volunteers. Located on N. High Street just south of campus, the hotline program trains volunteers in communication skills, suicide risk assessment, making referrals, and other skills related to the field of psychology. The next class will be in the fall, starting at the end of September, and will meet for thirteen 3-hour sessions on Wednesday evenings and on three Saturdays. After completion of training, volunteers commit to working a weekly 6-hour shift for six months (December 2019 - May 2020). Student volunteers have consistently reported high satisfaction with our program and found the experience helpful when determining plans such as graduate school.

Ohio House Rabbit Rescue
OHRR offers an internship working with rescued domestic rabbits being placed for adoption. The internship focuses not only on care of the rabbits but also on how to start and manage a grass-roots nonprofit charitable organization. The student will learn about fundraising, attracting and training volunteers, using social media to advance our aims, and public outreach and education, such as to schools and local pet stores. The capstone of our year is a large event called Midwest Bunfest (October 19, 2019) attracting 700-900 people and 100-150 visiting bunnies. Bunfest also includes a full day of education sessions involving the top rabbit vets in the country. We need many types of volunteer assistance and the intern will help us with that as well as attending some of the education sessions.

SLV.Global
SLV.Global is a mental health organization providing degree-specific volunteer placements in Sri Lanka, Bali, Indonesia, and India. Our placements offer participants the chance to gain psychology-focused work experience in a multitude of professional environments from classrooms to a psychiatric facility. Volunteers work with diverse client groups including children and adults with special needs and mental health concerns, with the aim to bolster the countries' existing resources and to promote positive mental health. SLV.Global offers comprehensive training and encourages volunteers to contribute to the continued growth and development of the team and its projects. The SLV.Global team strives to make a positive, responsible, and sustainable impact in the communities where they work.

Syntero, Inc.
Syntero, Inc. offers an opportunity for students to work with seniors in the northwest part of Columbus. Areas include Upper Arlington, Grandview, Dublin, Hilliard, Worthington, and some zip codes in Columbus. Our Older Adults Program uses interns to help provide in-home case management with a strong emphasis on supportive social services. Commitment is 10-15 hours a week during the semester. Students must have a car and be willing to visit seniors in their homes. Training includes an orientation to Syntero that outlines the programs that our mental health agency provides. We also train students to learn record keeping in our electronic records system, utilize the skills they are learning in their classes, and take on some cases on their own.

The Ohio State University Suicide Prevention Program
The Ohio State University Suicide Prevention Program (OSUSPP) aims to educate all members of our campus community about suicide prevention and to promote a culture of caring among staff, faculty, and students. We believe that one of the best ways to decrease suicide risk is by reducing stigma related to mental health through education, outreach, and advocacy. OSUSPP offers semester-long fall and spring internships to students who have a strong desire to learn about suicide prevention best practices, research, and gatekeeper trainings and to become campus leaders in mental health promotion. Working as part of a large office team, interns develop skills in professionalism, mental health advocacy, and administration while learning the true meaning of comprehensive suicide prevention work.


Graduate Programs

Adler University - PsyD Program
Adler University educates students to engage the world and create a more just society. Established in 1952 to build on the pioneering work of Alfred Adler, the first community psychologist, the University offers masters and doctoral programs for social change. Our beautiful campus is located in the heart of downtown Chicago, IL. We also offer a variety of programs that can be completed online through our online campus. Our programs span across different fields of counseling including six emphases within our Psychology (PsyD) program.

Illinois School of Professional Psychology
The Illinois School of Professional Psychology at National Louis University (ISPP) offers a PsyD in Clinical Psychology and a Master’s in Clinical Psychology. Our Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology program aims to prepare graduates to engage the world as health service psychologists. The program employs a practitioner-scholar model and offers a curriculum designed to prepare clinicians who provide scientifically grounded, theoretically informed, and culturally responsive psychological services. Our optional concentrations include health psychology, neuropsychology, forensic psychology, and client-centered and experiential psychotherapies.

Indiana University - School of Social Work
Graduates of the Indiana University School of Social Work (IUSSW) go on to promote social and economic justice at every level, from providing for the well-being of others to shaping social and economic policies. Since 1911, the school is dedicated to developing competent, caring professionals who are qualified to assume leadership roles in social work practice, and who strive to enrich the lives of the people they touch. The Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accredits the Master of Social Work program at Indiana University (continuously since 1923).

John Carroll University - Clinical Mental Health Counseling Masters
The Department of Counseling at John Carroll University offers CACREP-accredited master’s degree programs in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling. The counseling programs have a vibrant, 48-year history of excellence at the University. Our faculty is committed to developing deep and meaningful teaching and mentoring relationships with students as they bring a diverse set of knowledge and experience to teaching and supervising. Classes are small with none larger than 20 students, and many with as few at 15 or 8. Graduates of the programs are highly sought after by employers in Northeast Ohio. John Carroll is ranked #4 among Midwest universities by U.S. News & World Report. John Carroll also has graduate programs in School Psychology and Education Psychology among others.

Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences
The Health Service Psychology Program at KCU offers broad and general doctoral level training in clinical psychology with the conferral of a Doctor of Psychology degree (PsyD). The program integrates empirical evidence and practice through competency-based coursework and clinical training experiences. The mission of the PsyD program at KCU-Kansas City is to offer students broad and general training in preparation for careers in the practice of health service psychology as clinical psychologists both as individuals and as part of an integrated health care team. We are committed to the scientific foundations of psychology, the recognition that science informs practice and practice informs science, and a deep respect and understanding of cultural and individual differences.

Kent State University - Lifespan Development & Educational Sciences
The School of Lifespan Development and Educational Sciences (LDES) is home to a variety of programs across several broad professional areas. Specific programs within the School include: Counselor Education and Supervision, Educational Psychology, Human Development and Family Studies, Instructional Technology, Rehabilitation Counseling, School Psychology, and Special Education. Graduate students in each of these programs are provided with opportunities to hone skills and grow personally. Specifically, graduate students participate in faculty-led research, seminars focused on advanced knowledge in a variety of fields and professional interests, and practica and internships that provide leadership skills and networking.

Marietta College - Clinical Mental Health Counseling and MA in Psychology
Marietta offers two master's degree programs in psychology. MAP is a general Master of Arts program in psychology that requires a thesis and applied internship work (some combination of clinical, developmental, teaching, research). This program is a great option for individuals who want to apply to doctoral programs in different fields of psychology. The Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program aims to prepare students to be effective, ethical, and professional clinical mental health counselors. The program curriculum emphasizes both scholarly rigor and experiential learning as the means to produce culturally competent, skillful counselors for work in mental health agencies and for service and leadership in the Counseling profession.

Michigan School of Psychology
The Michigan School of Psychology (MSP), an independent not-for-profit graduate school, provides an educational climate which inspires students to live up to their potential, professionally and personally. The Master in Clinical Psychology is offered in a one-year full-time, or two year part-time format. The APA Accredited Doctor of Clinical Psychology degree is a full-time, minimum four-year, postmaster’s program. The ABA Credentialed Certificate program is a two-year program to become certified as a BCBA. The institution has been a leader in clinical, experiential self-directed education for over 30 years. Its curriculum emphasizes personal growth, authenticity and creativity as integral parts of the academic process.

Ohio University - Department of Social Work
The Department of Social Work developed a master's program with an emphasis on service in rural environments. The MSW program was admitted to candidacy for accreditation by the Council on Social Work Education in February 1999 and has been fully accredited since 2002. The primary purpose of the program is to graduate clinical social workers who have the knowledge and skills for advanced practice in rural environments to improve the well-being of individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities. Our face-to-face programs enables students to travel to Athens campus only one day a week. We have online part-time programs for both Advanced and Foundation students.

Ponce Health Sciences University - St. Louis
The PsyD program immerses students in a science-based, five-year curriculum that focuses on the application of psychological science to problems that students will face in real-world settings. The purpose of the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology program is to educate and train a new generation of health practitioners to be better prepared to take on the challenges of ever-evolving cultural and technological environments. It provides an outstanding pathway for acquiring the skills needed for becoming effective, culturally sensitive providers of direct psychological services.

The Ohio State University - College of Nursing
The Graduate Entry option within The Ohio State University College of Nursing provides an exciting opportunity for students with a baccalaureate degree in a major other than nursing to earn a Master of Science in nursing. After meeting prerequisites, students complete all necessary coursework leading to a master’s degree in approximately three years of full-time, year-round study. Students select a specialty at the time of application to the Graduate Entry option. At the mid-point of the program, students take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) for Registered Nurses (RNs). Eligibility for certification in the specialty area will occur upon graduation.

The Ohio State University - College of Public Health
The Ohio State University College of Public Health offers the following degree options: Bachelors of Science in Public Health, Master of Public Health, Master of Health Administration, Master of Science, and Doctor of Philosophy. The college is fully accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) and is ranked 13th by U.S. News and World Report among public schools of public health.

The Ohio State University - Couple and Family Therapy
The Ohio State University has just launched a 2 year Couple and Family Therapy Master’s Degree Program. It meets the standards for the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) clinical membership, licensure requirements in Ohio, and is designed to prepare students to be excellent clinicians providing therapy to children, adolescents, young adults, individuals, couples, and families. We will be accepting up to 16 students for fall 2020.

The Ohio State University - Fisher College of Business - Masters in Human Resource Management
Many psychology majors find fulfilling careers in Human Resources (HR); recruiting talented people, training & developing employees to be successful, and motivating & rewarding high performers for their accomplishments. HR professionals have the ability to shape every part of workplace culture, which in-turn has a critical impact on the success of an organization. Ohio State's Master of Human Resource Management (MHRM) is one of few HR graduate degrees taught within a business college with a majority of students coming from a social science background and less than 1.5 years of work experience. All required coursework is in the evening, giving you the flexibility to complete the program part-time with a full-time job in 3-5 years or full-time with a summer internship in 2 years.

The Ohio State University - Genetic Counseling
Genetic counseling is the process of helping people understand and adapt to the medical, psychological and familial implications of genetic contributions to disease. This process integrates the following: Interpretation of family and medical histories to assess the chance of disease occurrence or recurrence, education about inheritance, testing, management, prevention, resources and research, and counseling to promote informed choices and adaptation to the risk or condition. The OSU Genetic Counseling Graduate Program's mission is to train graduates to be knowledgeable, compassionate, and scholarly genetic counselors.

University of Michigan - Michigan Program in Survey Methodology
The University of Michigan Program in Survey Methodology seeks to train future generations of survey methodologists who specialize in the statistical, social, and data sciences. The program offers Doctor of Philosophy and Master of Science degrees through the University of Michigan. The program's home is the Institute for Social Research, the world's largest academically-based social science research institute. MPSM is a program where students learn the science of surveys. Our students study with some of the world's leading survey methodologists while pursuing their Master's or PhD degree. The Program provides a rich intellectual environment for study and work at one of the premier public universities in the world.

Wright State University - School of Professional Psychology
The School of Professional Psychology at WSU is among the first university professional school programs founded in the country, and has been in existence for 40 years. We are one of two APA accredited PsyD institutions in the state of Ohio and continue to attract well-rounded and professionally minded students from all over the world. The School's competency-based curriculum is five-years and includes four years of course work (including three years of clinical practica), followed by a year-long "pre-doctoral" internship. The students in our program are a diverse group of individuals who range in age from early 20’s to early 50’s. We offer a practitioner-model training program that confers the Doctor of Psychology diploma.

Xavier University - Accelerated Bachelors of Nursing
Xavier University is a co-educational Jesuit, Catholic university in Cincinnati, OH. Xavier offers over 30 graduate programs, in addition to our post bachelors, Accelerated Bachelor of Science Nursing Program-ABSN. Our second-degree accelerated nursing program puts students on the fast track to becoming an RN by leveraging their previous higher-ed Bachelor's degree in 16 months. Program locations in Columbus and Cincinnati.

Xavier University - Clinical/School Counseling
Xavier University Master of Arts in Clinical or School Counseling Xavier University has educated leaders and professionals for over 175 years, and the Department of Counseling has trained professional counselors since 1953. Xavier University’s School of Psychology offers two graduate programs: an APA accredited Clinical Psychology Doctoral (PsyD) and a Master’s in Industrial-Organizational Psychology. In all psychology graduate programs, students learn to integrate theory, research, and practice to become skilled professionals who understand the importance of the scientific foundations of psychology and are prepared to assume one of the many roles of professional psychologists. APA has accredited our PsyD program since 2001. Both of our programs are full time, on campus programs that require an internship and a final research project.
