Translational Biobehavioral Research in Cancer
In an Institute of Medicine report, Crossing the quality chasm: A new health system for the 21st century, the lag time in translation between basic research to health care practice implementation was estimated to be 20 years, with one factor being the failure to move treatment development and testing to scaled up implementations. Translational science discoveries and theoretical linkages leading to improved patient health will be discussed, with clinical and research illustrations from gynecologic and breast cancers, chronic lymphocytic leukemia, and advanced lung cancer.
